Challenges Faced by Malaysian Indian Students in Kuala Lumpur (2019–2024)

The COVID-19 pandemic further worsened the situation. Travel restrictions, quarantines, and financial setbacks forced some students to vacate their homes, disrupting their studies. Post-pandemic, surging demand for affordable housing has intensified competition, leaving students with fewer options and greater stress.

For students who prioritize proximity to campus to save on time and travel costs, the competition for nearby housing is steep, and rents are higher. A survey revealed that 53% of Indian students struggle with long commutes, impacting their time management and energy levels, especially for those balancing academic responsibilities with part-time jobs.
